Giuliana Tesoro was a polymer chemist who received her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Yale in 1943. In her career she obtained more than 125 patents. She served as Visiting Professor, Adjunct Professor, Senior Research Scientist from 1972–1982 at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and then as Research Professor at Polytechnic Institute of New York University (1982–1996). She is credited for developing flame-resistant fibers.
