Kalina Mincheva, Ph.D.

Gibbs Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics

Kalina Mincheva’s research interests include algebraic geometry, tropical geometry, and semiring algebra. Her current work focuses on developing the algebraic foundations underlying tropical geometry. It is aimed at making tropical geometry an even more powerful tool in addressing classical problems. The work touches many areas related to tropical geometry such as adic spaces, toric varieties, degenerations, and matroid theory. She has also worked on applications of tropical geometry and its computational aspects.
