Mary Annette Wheeler Wigner (1901–1977), Ph.D.
Mary Annette Wheeler received her BA from Wellesley College in 1923. She earned a Ph.D. in Physics from Yale in 1932. Her dissertation was titled, "Magnetic Susceptibilities of Alpha-Manganese and Beta-Manganese." In her career, she served as a professor of physics at Vassar College and, at the time of her retirement, at Rutgers University, where the Mary Wigner Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate physics major.
