Yale’s cohort of Hanna Gray Postdoctoral Fellows represents the up-and-coming generation of research scientists committed to their work, as well as to public science communication and increasing opportunities for future researchers. Andrea Cuentas-Condori (2022 Fellow) conducts research on understanding how neurons can co-transmit more than one neurotransmitter and how that may regulate behavior in a living mammal. Cesar De Leon (2019 Fellow) works to develop therapeutics that exploit cells’ waste disposal mechanisms to eliminate proteins that can contribute to neurodegeneration. He is active in science outreach to grade school students, and diversity and inclusion initiatives at Yale. Rudy Urbano (2019 Fellow) investigates how immune molecules activate cells to clear bacterial pathogens, and acknowledges how his mentors helped him gain an appreciation for the impact of microbes on human health. Autumn York (2017 Fellow) studies how the body’s immune system and metabolic pathways interact to control inflammation, and mentors current graduate students.
