Charlotte Roberts received her Ph.D. in Chemistry at Yale in 1894. She was the author of Development and Present Aspects of Stereo-Chemistry (DC Heath & Co., 1896). She was an instructor at Wellesley College (1881–1887), an assistant professor (1887–1892), and associate professor (1892–1896) during which she was granted a leave for graduate study at Yale. She served as Professor and Head of the Chemistry Department at Wellesley College (1896–1917). She was a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
