Geraldine Kenney-Wallace, Ph.D.
Kenney-Wallace, with Mary Ellen Riepe, was one of the first two women faculty appointments in the Department of Chemistry. She held a temporary teaching position in the 1970s. In 1984, she was honored with an E.W.R. Steacie Fellowship, in 1983, a Gugggenheim Fellowship, and in 1979, a Killam Senior Research Fellowship. She received an honorary doctor of science degree (DSc) from Saint Mary’s University in Nova Scotia, Canada, in recognition of her contributions to Canadian science policy as Chairman of the Science Council of Canada. She has received 11 other honorary degrees. She is considered an international authority on lasers, non-linear optics, and molecular/chemical dynamics.
