Vivian Perlis hauled a tape recorder the size of a small suitcase to her first interviews. OHAM staff now use compact digital recorders with memory cards the size of postage stamps. Some of the other recording formats have included cassette tapes, Digital Audio (DAT) Tapes, MiniDisc, and VHS and Betacam video cassettes.
