Women in Science and Engineering at Yale (2020 Edition)

Consuelo Minnich, MEng

In 1951, the School of Engineering agreed to accept women for graduate study. Consuelo Minnich was the first woman to receive a degree from the School. She was awarded an MEng in 1952 after studying civil engineering (Cunningham, p. 45). Her undergraduate BS Degree was completed at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign under the name Consuelo Hauser (University of Illinois, Civil and Environmental Engineering, 2019).
