Mary Helen Goldsmith’s area of research was plant physiology and she taught classes in this for many years. From 1986 to 2002, she served as Director of the Marsh Botanical Garden and held the position of Master for Silliman College for a number of years. Her publications are found in Plant Physiology, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, and Plant Cell, among others. Her 1977 invited review in Annual Review of Plant Physiology and Plant Molecular Biology has been cited > 430 times in the professional literature.
