Mary Rose received her Ph.D. from Yale in 1909, studying under Yale faculty member Lafayette B. Mendel in his physiological chemistry lab. In 1910, she married Anton Richard Rose (1877–1948) and was appointed Assistant Professor of Nutrition at Columbia University Teachers College. She was the author of Foundations of Nutrition (Macmillan, 1927) and Laboratory Handbook for Dietetics (Macmillan, 1915).
